Triggered much?
I’ve been mostly ok with my kids temper-wise. Mostly. But my husband decided to ‘fix’ something that needed fixing by a professional and started a leak into the basement.
Our downstairs neighbor came up to tell us and the kids ran downstairs to see what all the excitement was about. Of course, we’re supposed to be socially distant & our neighbors are older. I was on a conference call when this happened…until of course, I had to drop it to clean up leaking water.
I felt myself going straight into the red zone! Stress is at an all-time high right now and it doesn’t take much to trigger us. And it affects our kids. They pick up on our worries and sometimes, their anxieties can manifest in their behavior.
I interviewed Julie Nason and Ashley Smith from Peak Mind Psychology for a post titled, “Can Mindfulness & Modeling With Our Kids Overcome Impatience?” They have great tips about mindfulness that you (and your children) can use to help navigate these uncertain times.
