“My childcare is always reliable” said no working parent ever. Before Covid-19, we pieced together options and hoped for the best. Then, anything and everything — a sick child or sitter, school holiday, summer break, bad traffic — would render it useless. Although school has become the primary ‘childcare’ for families with kids over the age of 5, it’s not the same as childcare and closed hours before most businesses do. It’s always been a logistical and financial nightmare.
Now, what was already unsustainable is completely unmanageable. Parents are overloaded with work, childcare, household tasks and distant learning. That doesn’t include the mental load of holding everything together or mom guilt from being unable to give our full attention to the people we love while managing an impossible workload.

In my article I share what some of the over 900 parents who have participated in the survey had to say. If you would like to take our survey, click the link in the bio.
